The Little Man is Here

It's official--I can now say, "Hello, my name is Auntie Leah".  It has a nice ring to it, don't you think? As excited as I am to share this post, I'm sad that all of the events have been happening in Texas and we can't be there to share in the joy of those moments. (and let's be honest, I'm a little sad I can't be there to pull out the camera and capture some of those moments...so I guess all of the iPhone photos that are being sent my way will have to do for now...)

I'll admit that today's events were a little reminiscent of football, but in a different sense. Much like the game of football, over the last 24 hours we were given the play by play throughout the day, only this wasn't football and it wasn't a game- this was birth & delivery- "play by play style".  I've known a lot of people to give birth in my lifetime, but this was different. This was my baby sister and her first child- my "oh my goodness she's WAY braver than me" sister who chose to have this little one naturally with a midwife at a birthing center even knowing they told her this was going to be a larger baby. (She'll appreciate this later when she reads it and I'll score major "cool sister points" for that last comment.) I can pretty much assure you I would have run to the nearest hospital and opted for some legal drugs by the time labor kicked in.

Baby Greyson has been playing games with us all for the last two and a half weeks. We've all been on alert and waiting for the little many to arrive and he even fooled those who were predicting his due date. The last two and a half weeks have been a guessing game as to when he'd show his cute little face.  The new family joke was "Maybe G doesn't stand for Greyson, but rather "G" stands for guess-- guess when I'm going to show up?
On Tuesday night we were getting the general update that everyone thought just maybe he was getting ready to make an appearance as Lydia started having more intense contractions and they became 6 minutes apart throughout the early morning hours. This picture says it well as she couldn't sleep, but a certain someone else wasn't having any problems.
The 12 hours that followed on Wednesday were a bit of a wild ride as we got word before noon on Wednesday, that her water broke and they would soon be on their way to the birthing center. Several hours later they left the house and headed over...the last time they'd leave the house as a family of two.
For the next few hours, everyone got settled in, and the contractions became more intense. Everyone anxiously awaited for details of how she was progressing, but of course nothing could stop a quick run to Chik-fil-A to ensure a happy night for all, especially the new dad-to-be.  As the pain began to intensify, there's nothing like having your mom close by to give you a calming back rub. Thankfully, someone was close by to snap a quick photo before things got a little crazier and this new momma decided to kick everyone out except Aaron.  ( I would just love to know if she had any of those "crazy mom in labor moments" where she said something she can't even recall right now--I'm sure those stories will surface later...)
From that point, we'll leave the rest of the "play by play" for you to fill in the blanks, but suffice it to say, there was plenty of pain and unfortunately a few minor issues along the way and after delivery, but nothing that kept little Greyson from finally making his appearance into the world a few hours later around 10pm CT.
Due to the rest of the evening's events, we don't have too many photos to share at this time, but you can be sure that more photos will follow in the days to come of the new mom and dad and the little man. Everyone is now back home, doing well, but very tired.

So without further adieu we introduce you to our sweet nephew -bow tie and all:
